George joined the staff at the University of Manchester in 1984, and has been Rylands Professor of Biblical Criticism and Exegesis since 1998. A member of the international team of editors of the Dead Sea Scrolls, he is the author of numerous studies, his latest collection of essays being 'The Dead Sea Scrolls and the New Testament' (London: SPCK; Minneapolis: Fortress Press, 2005).
